CERAMICS
I've been exploring 3D illustration since my time as a student at RISD. I love the tactile quality of working with clay. My characters come to life as they take shape with gesture, and personality. Although much of my work is traditionally 2D, I continually return to sculpture; Working in 3D enriches my drawing and painting—and vice versa. I usually begin a sculpture with a rough sketch, and when creating picture books, I often make maquettes of my characters to better understand their forms. It feels like magic, getting to know them as real, tangible beings. My studio is alive with whimsical clay figures, picture books, plants, and illustrations.
I am a proud member of Kollektiv Clay Studio. I feel lucky to be a part of this community, learning from other ceramicists and building creative community.
Curious about commissions? I take on special projects from time to time. I’d love to hear from you!
